India’s healthcare sector has emerged as one of the country’s most strategically important industries, evolving from a fragmented service ecosystem into a capital-intensive, technology-enabled, and increasingly organized economic powerhouse. Valued at approximately USD 400 billion in 2025, the sector is projected to surpass USD 600 billion by 2030, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 8–10%.
The healthcare ecosystem encompasses hospitals, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, health insurance, telemedicine, and digital health services. Among these segments, hospitals remain the dominant contributor, accounting for approximately 55–60% of the industry’s total value. India’s hospital market alone is estimated to exceed USD 130 billion and continues to attract substantial private equity, sovereign wealth fund, and institutional investment due to favorable demographic trends, rising healthcare expenditure, and significant infrastructure deficits.

India’s healthcare industry is expanding rapidly due to its demographic and epidemiological transformation. Rising life expectancy, urbanization, growing middle-class incomes, and increased health awareness are driving higher healthcare consumption. The disease burden is shifting toward chronic conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, respiratory disorders, and cancer, with NCDs accounting for nearly 63% of deaths. This is creating sustained demand for tertiary care, specialty treatments, advanced diagnostics, and long-term disease management.
